UBISOFT has confirmed an upcoming open beta for Ghost Recon Wildlands, together with news of a brand new previously unseen feature.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Open Beta has been confirmed by Ubisoft
Ubisoft has revealed new details about an upcoming Ghost Recon Wildlands open beta in a new email sent out in the last few days.
The details were shared via an email sent to closed beta participants.
It revealed that the open beta would take place sometime before launch and include a new province of the game’s huge open world.
The same email didn’t share any other details about the upcoming open beta – which was also confirmed in the recent Ubisoft earnings call – but it did include a survey to gather feedback from about the previous closed beta.
Currently, Ubisoft has failed to reveal when this open beta will take place. There is no date and no time for when it could drop.
However, based on the open beta for both For Honor and Rainbow Six Siege before that, the Ghost Recon Wildlands open beta will most likely take place the weekend before launch.
That might suggest that the Ghost Recon Wildlands open beta will kick off on March 2 and end on March 5, just in time for Wildlands release on March 7 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
When discussing the previously released closed beta, Ubisoft were quick to point out that the Itacua region where players were contained to, is one of the ‘easier’ areas of the game.
“You have to keep in mind that the beta area was one of the lower difficulty areas,” an Ubisoft community manager explained.
“As you get into more difficult zones, a more tactical approach will be rewarded.
“Granted the game doesn’t force you to play in any one particular playstyle, but as you go on, the more tactical you are, the less potential headache you’re setting yourself up for.”
It’s possible that the open beta might focus on a new region in Wildlands Massive open world map as opposed to the Itacua region again.
If this is the case it will be interesting to see if the open beta, where more players can be expected to be playing the game, will introduce a more difficult region, or one requiring more player cooperation.
In other Ghost Recon Wildlands related news, Ubisoft has announced that the game’s narrative is being penned by acclaimed writers Don Winslow and Shane Salerno.
Winslow is an award-winning and #1 internationally bestselling novelist, having penned The Cartel, The Power of the Dog and Savages.
While Salerno is one of the most sought-after writers in Hollywood, currently working with Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron on four separate sequels to Avatar.
“I’ve written about drug cartels for more than twenty years and together with my writing partner Shane Salerno have brought that knowledge to the story, scenes, characters and dialogue found in Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands,” said Winslow.
“I’ve been a Tom Clancy fan ever since I first read The Hunt For Red October,” added Salerno.
“It was a real thrill to work on this game with the team at Ubisoft, who are incredibly passionate and committed to delivering the best gaming experience possible for fans.”
